Finding a Heart
There is a breed of person who makes it their sole duty to help people when they are in need. They don’t care what time it is or what the problem is. Kitchen on fire? House damaged in a storm or earthquake? Having chest pain? It doesn’t matter to these people, you call them and they come running day or night. We all hope to never have to ask for help from these folks, but we all sleep better at night knowing they are minutes away if we do.

My friend Steve is one of those people. He’s a good man, a family man with two boys and a great wife who chose to be a firefighter and paramedic so he can be there when we need him. Sadly, Steve was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure and learned his heart wasn’t strong enough to keep him alive. Steve needs a heart transplant.

If you are in a position to help Steve and his family please do. Maybe you can afford $5, $10 or more to help cover medical costs. Steve is nearing the ½ mark in his lifetime health benefit and is only now beginning his long journey for a new heart, recovery and rehabilitation. Even if you can’t afford a financial contribution, there are other things you can do. Send this webpage link to your friends and colleagues. If you know a firefighter, law enforcement officer or emergency medical professional send them the link as well. Help spread the word, please.

Steve has published a blog to share his story and update all the wonderful people who care.
